About Arkansas' First Congressional District
Arkansas' First Congressional District, known as "The Delta" makes up the northeastern portion of the great state of Arkansas. It is a mostly rural district made up of good people who make their living off of the land: the original environmentalists. Farming and agriculture are the primary industries in the district, but there are many small businesses in the district's urban areas as well. But it's not all about work in the Delta. You will find some of the best hunting and fishing anywhere in NE Arkansas. Jonesboro, the largest city in the district, is home to the Arkansas State University and former U.S. Senator Hattie Caraway, the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate. (Arkansans are known for being trailblazers. )The 26 counties in the region reach from DeWitt to Mountain Home. Hugged by the Mississippi River on the east and the Ozark Mountains on the north and west, God's handiwork is on display in this beautiful corner of Arkansas.
